Pauline Helen Kowalczyk

February 18, 1931 — December 13, 2024

Havelock, Ontario

Pauline peacefully passed away on December 13, 2024, at the age of 93, with her granddaughter Haley (Fletcher) by her side.

Pauline took great pride in her career as a safety supervisor, a role she held until her retirement at age 60. She also worked as a waitress at the Orchard Family Restaurant, where she won the affection of the staff, owners, and customers alike. Her presence was beloved in both positions.

Known for her bold personality, Pauline could be remembered for her unforgettable moments, like sneaking strippers into her workplace for her boss’s birthday and passionately standing up for her employees. She was a force to be reckoned with.

A skilled knitter, Pauline had a deep love for crafting blankets, many of which she lovingly made for her family. She also donated blankets to local hospitals every week, demonstrating her generosity.

Family was everything to Pauline. She had a special bond with her daughter Debbie, who tragically passed away in 2016. Her relationship with her granddaughters was filled with love, care, and protection.

After Debbie’s passing, Pauline moved in with her youngest granddaughter, a time during which both were there for one another in ways that are still impossible to fully explain. The connection they shared was unique and unbreakable, and it will be sorely missed.

Stubborn, feisty, and never afraid to speak her mind, Pauline had a soft spot for those closest to her. Her favorite phrase when she was upset was “Go fly a kite” — a warning to anyone that she was really mad.

Pauline enjoyed her morning routine of tea, a sour cream glazed donut, and the newspaper. She had a particular sweet tooth for cookies and pastries, and above all, she loved to laugh.

One of her favorite pastimes was being teased by her granddaughter, who would joke about sending her Bulldog, King, to lick her toes. Pauline’s horrified laughter and the tears that followed from the endless teasing became a long-standing joke that never lost its charm.

Despite the challenges she faced, Pauline never complained. She always made sure her family was taken care of, pushing through any situation with strength and determination.

Pauline is survived by her granddaughter Haley (Clint), Niki, and son-in-law Glenn (Debbie).

Now at peace, Pauline is reunited with her daughter after eight long years apart, watching over her family with love.

 She will be deeply missed.

The family will be having a Celebration of Life in the spring which in Nan’s favourite time of the year. The date will be announced at a later time by her granddaughter.
