In Loving Memory of Peter Jaspert
(Feb 8, 1942 - Oct 28, 2022)
Peter was born in Wuppertal, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1960. He apprenticed as a typesetter and then started a successful business called Lion Typesetting. Peter was always in the forefront to upgrade his business. He went from cold type, to hot type, to the Agfa system. And, was one of the first to jump on board with the Apple computer.
Peter was extremely active and loved the outdoors. He was a boxer in his youth, and also earned a black belt in Judo. Peter’s greatest passion was white water canoeing. Every summer there would be a trip to one of major rivers in Canada. Including his beloved river, the Nahanni. He enjoyed spending the winters skiing mountain ranges in North America and Europe.
As well, Peter enjoyed travel and languages. He dedicated time to learn English, French and Spanish. The languages helped him as he travelled the world.
He is survived by his loving wife Finny (Hartl) Jaspert. And, his two devoted daughters. Claudia and Nadja Jaspert. He was their Rock always with his sage advise. His beloved cat Lexi brought him great joy.
