Married: 40+ years to Susan Williams Little

Formerly of West Island/Montreal and latterly of Ottawa

Best friend and precious love of Susan’s life, Peter passed away very unexpectedly after both a lengthy struggle with throat/tongue cancer and, in the end, succumbing to complications of non-covid pneumonia. At the time of his death, Peter was in rehab at St. Vincent’s Hospital and, although fragile, was working diligently to regain his strength in preparation for his return to home to resume his life in the setting he loved most.

Stepdad to Tabitha, Kathryn (Steven Roy) Peter (Brenda Guevremont), Pappy/Grandpa to Zachary, Euan, Sydney, Georgia, Liam, Keith and Judah.

Brother-in-Law to Karen (Al Cayer), Steven, Warren (Marie Sinclair) and Nancy-Anne (Don Bowden)

Brother to Michael Little (Mary McGovern) and Jane his favourite sister (Dr. Peter Markesteyn)

Uncle and Great Uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Pre-deceased by his parents Joan Mitchell Little, Jack Little and brother Sam Little.

Peter, a graduate of Loyola High School and Loyola College, Montreal, was a gifted athlete, but hockey was his passion. He was drafted by the NY Rangers at age 18, where he played for their farm team until twice breaking his nose and fingers made him reconsider hockey as a career.

He met Susan in 1980 and they became inseparable. Never having had children of his own, he quickly assumed the role of ‘Dad’ to Susan's 3 children whom he loved. In 1992, Peter accepted a senior sales role with Advanced Business Interiors and moved to Ottawa. A few years later, he was named Vice President, Sales for the same firm, serving both government contracts as well as commercial institutions. During his career, he gained the respect and friendship of many people both within the industry and in the community.

Peter was cremated June 18th, 2021 and a gathering to commemorate his life, Covid permitting, will take place in late Summer or early Autumn in Ottawa.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. André Lamothe, Peter’s Oncologist since 1997 and Dr. Pierre Cardinal, a kind and supportive doctor in the ICU at The Ottawa Hospital who cared for Peter for several months.
