Petros Despotas

Petros was from a generation that lived a great adventure. Though the last chapter of his life was more tame and challenged by medical episodes he saw many things of wonder, horror, technological advancement and things beyond his wildest dreams that he never imagined possible back when he was he was a young man in his home town of Kozani, Greece. 

One day he got on a plane and came to Canada with his family in search of a better life. He worked hard, endured sorrow, never gave up and succeeded in the game of life. He saw his children marry, he saw grandchildren, he met their wives and built good relationships with them. Lastly, he saw and met his great grandchildren. He lived a long fulfilling life, and he was unapologetically himself through and through. 

We will miss him and his antics. We will miss his quirkiness. His aversion to garlic and onion. His love of a good stew or a pork chop. His hair always had to be perfect for the lady’s moustache finely trimmed and cane at the ready. We will miss his sense of humor and his sometimes lack of it that made living with him all the funnier. 

He had 9 lives and many things that were meant to take him only left a mark. He was tough and opinionated. Although he hadn’t reached his goal of 100, he came damn close. 

In closing he loved. He cared about my mom and dad. He cared about us and about you. He adored KK and EM. He was so proud and excited for Ducky. He saw things that he couldn’t explain, and he hoped and prayed for us. We love you, Pappou, and you will be missed.
