It is with great sadness that the family of Phil Johnson announces his passing after a valiant battle with dementia, in the Rosamond Unit of the Almonte General Hospital on March 11, 2019 at the age of 71.
Phil will be greatly missed by his loving wife Marly of 48 years and son Jeff ( Bridie). His brother Paul (Julie), extended family, close-knit community, motorcycle club, and lifelong friend Peter Booth have lost a quietly funny man. Phil was predeceased by his father (Arthur) and mother (Doreen) Johnson.
“Quiet and steady, in all his ways,
Upright and just, to the end of his days
Sincere and kind, in heart and mind,
What memories he has left behind.”
He was born in Nottingham UK and emigrated to Canada with his family as a child. His father was a cabinet maker and Phil continued this craft and was well known in the community for his custom cabinet work and antique restoration.
The entire family would like to extend their most gracious thanks to Dr. Stewardson, nurses, and staff of the Rosamond unit at the Almonte General Hospital who made Phil’s last 9 months as comfortable as possible. Their dedication and service was unparalleled.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the Rosamond Unit of the Almonte General Hospital.
