OBITUARY   PHYLLIS TILDEN (NEE TATTERSALL) April 20, 1928 – Dec. 1, 2018   It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Blanche Tilden on Dec. 1, 2018.   Phyllis was the beloved wife of Cameron Tilden (deceased) for 62 years and the cherished mother of Cate Tilden, Susan Cadeau (Dave), Caroline Tilden (Musbah). Holding a special place of affection is Albert Barker.   Phyllis was a loving and devoted Grandma to Ibrahim (Sarah), Fatima, Hussein, Zak, Yusuf and Mohamed BenHalim.  She was thrilled to recently become Great-Grandma to baby Noah, son of Ibrahim and Sarah. Her grandchildren and Noah provided Phyllis with one of the greatest joys and happiness in life.   Phyllis is predeceased by her parents Harry and Ella Tattersall and her parents-in-law Charles and Vera Tilden. She is also predeceased by her sister Dorothy Helsdon (Sam), brother Robert Tattersall, sister-in-law Olive Tattersall, brothers-in-law Bev Fewster (Doreen), Mackenzie Tilden (Elva), Charles Tilden (Audrey), sister-in-law Margaret Knight (Phillip). Mom will be remembered with love by her extended family and friends, including her sisters Doreen Fewster and Judy Brown, nieces and nephews: Phillip Watson (Eileen), Tim Knight, Barb Tattersall, Teresa Tattersall (Richard), Jeff Helsdon (Karen), John Helsdon (Deb), Barry Fewster, Clare Fewster (Jeannie), Melanie Watson (deceased), and Kaylie and Jessica Brown.   Although Phyllis has been retired from nursing for quite a few years, she will be missed by her friends from the VON and Grove Park Home where she worked.  Phyllis worked in the geriatric nursing field for many years and loved caring for her patients.  She was passionate about nursing, and only retired near age 70 when her own mother advised her that it was “Time to stop and smell the roses.”Many people who knew her when she was working have commented on what a great nurse she was.  Mom will also be missed by her friends at the Senior Encounter program that she attended twice per week.   Love and eternal, heartfelt gratitude are extended to Phyllis’s caregiver Arsenia, who became a part of our family.  She treated Phyllis as if she were her own mother, tirelessly, selflessly, and lovingly providing care and companionship for the last years of her life and making it possible for her to remain at home. For this we are truly grateful and appreciative.  She holds a special place in the hearts of our family. Special thanks also to Lala, Joy, Mila, Nina, and Olivia, who also provided loving care to Mom (and Dad) before Arsenia came to stay with Mom. We want to thank Nicole, Ruth, Norla, Lindsay, Kristie and Bayla who assisted Mom at home over the last few months. With these wonderful people, we were able to keep Phyllis comfortable, happy and at home where she wanted to be.   Cam and Phyllis had a long and loving marriage, always supporting one another and providing a wonderful example to their children of what true love is.   Phyllis extended unending love and care to her family, patients and everyone who knew her.   She was a gentle, kind and beautiful person who always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and taught her children to do the same.  She loved gardening, reading, crosswords and most of all, visits from family.   Arrangements:  Friends may call at the Jennett Funeral & Cremation Centre 152 Bradford St., Barrie on Tuesday from 7:00-9:00pm. and on Wednesday December 5th at First Baptist Church 550 Grove St. E., Barrie from 11:00am until the time of service at 12:00pm.
