Phyllis Lorraine (Lorrie) Walls (nee Bickford) passed away peacefully on March 29, 2022, in her 90th year.
Will be greatly missed by her sons Jim (Susan) and Tom (Cindy). Beloved Gramma of Kayla, Samantha, Matthew, and Mitchell. Great Gigi of Grayson, Brent, and Lincoln.
Survived by her younger brother Wes and older sister Eleanor. She will be missed by a large caring family of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Thomas James, in 2004.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes, along with those of her late husband, will be scattered at places of fond memories.
As per her wishes, no formal memorial services will be conducted. She wished to be remembered in thoughts and prayers as someone who had a spirit for life and not be the source of a fuss.
Lorrie grew up in Toronto as the middle child of a working-class family. At just over 4 foot 10 inches, she made up for her size with a feisty character. She loved to sing and enjoyed being in the church choir.
Lorrie met and married the love of her life, a rough around the edges logger/soldier, and together they had many adventures, including working as private investigators.
Eventually, they settled in the New Toronto area of Etobicoke and raised a family. She worked as a secretary for most of her life with a sideline of teaching women’s physical fitness at local recreation centres.
She enjoyed spending her weekends and holidays at their cabin in Huntsville where she could indulge in her passions of bird watching, hiking, snow shoeing, and gardening.
Glory to a long life well lived!
