Ray Piette

October 6, 1942 — January 23, 2021

Oakville

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Ray on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Dad passed peacefully with his children, Tracey and Steve, at his side. He joins our mom at his final rest.

Born and raised in New Toronto, he was the only child of Lucienne and Guy and was very close to his grandparents and aunt’s, Rose and Theresa. In 1961, he married Marylin Rose (aka Doe), and they spent their married life raising their two children in Mississauga. The family spent summers in Wasaga Beach, by the backyard pool, and camping in the parks throughout southern Ontario, where he could pass on his love of fishing. Many days were spent on Lake Ontario with his fishing buddies and he is still remembered for the prize catch in the Toronto Salmon Derby that made it to the front page of the newspapers!

In the 1980’s Ray bravely started his own office furniture moving company and in true fashion of a family business, employed his son, wife, many nephews, children's friends and occasionally his sister-in-laws, Betty and Barb.

He was predeceased by Doe at age 57, and subsequently spent his retirement as a snowbird in Florida. When not out reading by the pool or fishing in the Gulf, he organized the club dart league, represented the park Canadians in shuffle board or helped out with the cooking crew at the Clubhouse.

He passionately tended to his vegetable garden then pickled the fruits of his labour, particularly his annual crop of garlic and enjoyed collecting stamps.

R.I.P. Dad...
