We are sad to announce that on August 27 2021, Raymond Bain, age 87, passed away at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Raymond was born in Liverpool England, and after 7 years of employment as a Dictograph telephone installer, including 3 years of peacetime National Service in the Royal Signals, he immigrated to Canada in 1957 in search of his fortune. In 1964, he married Barbara, his beloved wife of 57 years who predeceased him by 11 days, and in 1965 they welcomed their son David who survives them.
Over the next 35 years, Ray built a very successful career in commercial real estate with A.E. Lepage (which later became Royal Lepage), and then gradually transitioned into a retirement full of the activities he and Barbara enjoyed: Travel, tennis, the Rolls Royce club, and special moments spent at their cottage in Thunder Beach on Georgian Bay.
Another special highlight of Ray and Barbara's lives was their generous support for Down Syndrome research, and their close involvement with children and adults with Down Syndrome, including David and his many friends.
Cremation has already taken place and there will be a private family celebration of life in the future. In Raymond's memory, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
