In memory of Raymond Hickey who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family of natural causes in his home at the age of 91.
Beloved husband to Ruby his beautiful life partner of 60 years.
Wonderful father to son Barry, daughter Carla and her husband Danny. Daughter Loriann, daughter Julie, daughter Joanne and her husband Leo and son Jamie and his wife Frietzen.
Adored by his 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Raymond was born in Nash Creek, NB in 1929, second eldest of 12 children.
He moved to Ontario in 1958 where he married his bride Ruby and settled in Toronto to raise his family.
Raymond was known as a gentle quiet man.
He worked hard to provide for his family and the yearly vacations down East have created memories that will last a lifetime.
It could be said that Dad certainly did not “rule the house”
As children we looked forward to Mama's weekly bingo night, that’s when the chips, pop and late TV watching would be our treat!
Christmas for him was all about simple traditions, his favorite was hanging those old stockings filled with oranges, nuts and candies for us to enjoy.
He loved to play his guitar especially with his brothers singing those down home tunes.
He was a great bowler, loved to enjoy a Sunday baseball game at Christie Pits or simply take a stroll to the park and feed the pigeons.
Simpler times to cherish, loving memories of pure gentleness, kindness and love.
Grandkids always left Papa's with a hug and coin in hand.
In his last years he cherished a simple visit from anyone who came knocking, as long as there was a Timmies in hand!
Family is truly what he enjoyed most of all and that is what he instilled in all of us.
Gentle souls are a true gift here on earth. Heaven has now received one in him this Christmas time.
We will miss you dearly Papa.
We are so blessed to have had a wonderful life with you and now you are reunited with your beloved Ruby again.
Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Raymond's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
A celebration of life will take place at a future date.
