Raymond “Ray” James Margraf passed away peacefully on September 11, 2023, at the age of 63, surrounded by family at the Kingston General Hospital. Predeceased by his parents Eva and James Robinson. A devoted spouse to Becky Margraf, and loving father to Dylan Frederick (Karis), Kathleen Margraf (Jordan), Kaitlyn Margraf (Mitchell), and Paige Margraf (Olivia). He leaves behind his brother, Norman Robinson (Karen Lee), and will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Avery, Coen, and Ava. Ray was loved dearly by extended family and friends and will be missed greatly by his dog, Remi, and cats, Rufus and Macey.
Ray was born and raised in the Toronto Lake Shore area and moved to Trent Hills as a teenager. During Ray’s 63 years on this earth, he truly lived life to the fullest; more than most can hope in a lifetime. He had a career with General Motors at the Oshawa Assembly Plant for 30+ years and enjoyed a well-deserved retirement for the last 8 years.
A Green Acres lifer and always the life of the party, Ray enjoyed fishing and boating on the Trent River and sitting for hours on his pontoon boat while listening to classic rock music. Ray had many joys in life including golf, baseball, bowling, hockey, camping, watching football, and doing Football Proline and scratch tickets. Most importantly, he favoured spending time with family and friends. Ray truly had a young spirit, he connected so well with his grandchildren and nephews. They all gravitated towards him and adored their cool grandpa or uncle Ray.
Ray, known as Razor by many of his friends, could make friends with anyone and made everyone feel at ease with his kind, caring, and genuine self. He was one of those guys who could enter a room and turn darkness to light just with his smile. He was always there for family and friends and his thoughtful heart knew no boundaries. No distance was too far for him to travel to provide a helping hand or offer support to others. To know Ray was to love him wholeheartedly. If love could have saved him, he would have lived forever.
Our family would like to thank the employees at Planet Fitness for seeking medical care quickly. Many thanks also to all the healthcare workers involved in his care at both Belleville and Kingston General Hospitals.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 30th, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Campbellford. Donations in Ray’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
In loving memory of Raymond Margraf
Our lives go on without you
But nothing is the same,
We have to hide our heartache
When someone speaks your name.
Sad are the hearts that love you,
Silent are the tears that fall,
Living here without you
Is the hardest part of all.
You did so many things for us,
Your heart was so kind and true ,
And when we needed someone
We could always count on you.
The special years will not return
When we are all together,
But with the love in our hearts
You walk with us forever.
