Richard Irving de St. Croix

June 26, 1927 — November 6, 2021

Richard Irving de St. Croix passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in his home (Stream Bend) on November 6th, 2021, at 94. He had Alzheimer's for the last 15 years but never suffered a day thanks to the loving care of his son Andy and his family Teddie, Moira and Austin. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia, his sisters, Blanche and Francis, and his brothers, Austin, Kenneth, and Gordon. Richard was survived by sons Gene (Paulette de la Barre), Ted (Maureen), Nick (Brenda Jones), and Andy (Teddie Laframboise), and grandchildren Whitney (Nick Stevens), Nicholas, Joshua, Nicole, Austin and Moira and great-grandchild Eleanor.

Richard was born June 26th, 1927, in New Brunswick and lived a full life, always enjoying the outdoors as much as being an engineer. He earned his Mechanical Engineering Degree at McGill University and later his MBA (or, as he would say, a degree in Monkey Business) at Michigan University. Richard was a hardworking man and enjoyed a full career with General Motors. He was a dedicated map maker for the Canadian Orienteering community and shared his love of the sport with his family and friends. Richard was a dedicated family man, a fierce competitor, and both enjoyed as well as enjoyed by all that knew him.

In memory of the passing of Richard de St. Croix, an opportunity to exchange fondest memories with friends and family will be on November 8th, 2021 from 4pm-8pm at Richard's house, 6473 Second Line Rd, Kars, Ontario.

A celebration of life will be held on September 24th, 2022 at Steven's Creek Farms. The family wishes to thank the Stevens Creek Farm community for all the love they showed Richard. In lieu of flowers for those wishing, donations can be made to the ROSSS group ( rosss.ca/donate ) in recognition of the tremendous support and love their volunteers gave Richard over many years.
