Surrounded by his loved ones, Richard Gagnon of Hamilton, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Friday June 24th, 2022, at the age of 60, after a heroic 5-year battle with Leukemia.
Born on August 15th, 1961, Richard lived his 60 years to the fullest. Always reaching out to help others, take care of his family and be present in his community. Richard was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He went above and beyond for his family, friends and even strangers. A graduate of Algonquin College, Richard was a phenomenal technical writer, a career which he loved. An avid hockey fan, Richard spent his time cheering on the Ottawa Senators and spent many years as a junior hockey referee.
A dedicated parishioner of Église Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours in Hamilton, ON, Richard was a big presence in the church community, and he used his faith to fuel his positivity in life and during his cancer battle.
Richard was predeceased by his parents Andre Gagnon and Jacqueline (L’Écuyer) & Jean-Claude Leduc as well as his wife of 34 years, Tracey Gagnon. He is survived by his children Jocelyne Gagnon (Trevor Tugby) & Jeremy Gagnon (Kristie Anderson), his granddaughters Olivia & Ava Tugby, his brother Robert (Deborah) Gagnon and sister Nicole (Shawn) Monahan. He also leaves behind his loving partner Cathy Mous, her children Lisa Mous Feil (Trevor), Maryanne Mous-Hili (Mike) and Emily Mous (Nick) as well as all their children who had become very close to him. He will also be missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews in addition to many other loved ones.
A joint funeral for Richard and Tracey Gagnon will take place on Saturday July 30th, 2022, at L’Église Notre-Dame-du-Perpétuel-Secours at 243 Cumberland Avenue, Hamilton, ON L8M 1Z9 at 11:00am, with a reception to follow in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
