It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Rahnenfuhrer, who departed from this world on November 14, 2023. At the age of 88, Rita passed at Toronto Grace Health Centre with her family by her side.

Born on March 23, 1935, in Mönchengladbach, Germany, Rita immigrated to Canada, where she would create a legacy of love, care, and unwavering support for her family and community. Rita's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Rita's dedication to her community was truly exceptional. For over four decades, she served as a Community Care Worker, touching the lives of countless individuals with her boundless compassion and unwavering commitment. Remarkably, she continued her work until the age of 80, a testament to her selflessness and passion for helping others.

Known for her warm and engaging personality, Rita was a beloved figure in her long-time apartment building in Mimico. Her friendly demeanor, talkative nature, and personable charm was evident around everyone she encountered. Rita also contributed to the well-being of her community by serving as an assistant superintendent for many years, always going the extra mile to ensure the happiness and comfort of those around her.

Rita had an immense love for her family and friends, cherishing every moment spent with them. She found great joy in celebrating holidays with her loved ones and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including reading and engaging in heartfelt conversations.

Rita Rahnenfuhrer is survived by her daughter, Anita Stefanyk, her granddaughter Jennifer O’Neill, who is married to Ross O’Neill, and great-granddaughter Everly O’Neill. She is also survived by her grandson Christopher Stefanyk, who is married to Kristin Stefanyk and her great-granddaughter, Sloane Stefanyk. In addition to her immediate family, Rita leaves behind her sister Gisela, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of sisterly love and support.
