Robert (Bob) Baker

January 5, 1947 — March 17, 2024

Robert (Bob) Baker

Bob passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on the morning of March 17 with his wife of 54 years, Susan, at his side. Bob is survived by his children Aaron (Jennifer) and Angela, grandchildren Emerson and Elliott, sister Marilyn Roberts-Wasson, and many nieces, cousins, and friends. Predeceased by his parents John and Lorraine.

Bob came from humble roots in the east end of Toronto and worked hard to build a comfortable life for his family, complete with annual summer vacations, trips to the cottage and many opportunities for his kids to pursue their own adventures. Bob worked in the television industry for many years before transitioning to the labour union workforce. He took pride in his work and enjoyed talking about his early years as a cameraman when he had the chance to work at the Montreal Olympics and his time at TV Ontario working on classics like the Polka Dot Door.

After he retired, Bob dove into his passion for golfing and his time on the links brought him a lot of joy. He also umpired Little League baseball and enjoyed contributing to youth sports. He was very proud of his grandkids’ athletic abilities and would attend their hockey and basketball games, commenting with pride when they played well and taking them out for treats after a great game.

A celebration of life will take place in the summer. In lieu of flowers or donations, Bob’s family encourages you to take time to appreciate your health, your time with friends and family, acknowledge the little moments of joy you experience every day and think of Bob on occasion when you pass by a golf course.
