Robert "Glenn" Johnston

Robert “Glenn” Johnston, 71, of Barrie, passed away peacefully in his sleep on 10 September 2024.

Born in Barrie, but raised in Allandale, Glenn was the youngest son of Garnet and Gwen Johnston.

Glenn was a devoted and loving husband. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son Curtis; son Gregory (Mary); grandchildren Mia; Iylah; Kira; Soraya; Kyle and Shania. Great grandchildren Zelda and Abbas. His older brother David (Sue); his niece Kristine (Greg) and his great nephew Jamieson.

Graduate of King Edward Elementary and Barrie Central Collegiate, Glenn went on to be a cadet at the Toronto Police Department at the young age of 18. He would go on to graduate from Aylmer’s and the Toronto Police College.

His time in Toronto was spent at 51 Division, where he met many friends and made great memories.

In 1978, Glenn joined the Barrie Police Department. One of his proudest moments was getting the honour to serve and protect the city he called home.

Glenn’s passion outside of police work was giving back to the community. Either as a coach or executive with Barrie Minor Baseball or being one of the founders of the Barrie Sports Complex, he loved giving back.

But, Glenn’s greatest love in life was his family. He will be truly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 5th at 1826 Quantz Crescent in Innisfil, Ontario, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please come and join us celebrate the life of Glenn, in a casual setting.
