Born to parents Gordon & Margaret Nichols – Rob was the 2nd youngest in a family of 6 children, including twins Margaret & Anne, Chris, Veronica, and Joseph. Rob, being born and raised in Barrie – attended St. Mary’s Elementary School & St. Joseph Highschool. He spent his youth playing sports and spending time outdoors. In his early twenties he met his first wife, Patricia Caron – where they married and had three children – Jason, Jacob, and Justin Nichols. Their time would see them live in Barrie, Collingwood & Calgary. During this time would see Rob work in sales and open his own Brick-and-Mortar business. Pat and Rob would later separate in the early 90’s.

It was after this time that Rob met his partner, Noemi Alvarado. Rob and Noemi would go on to have 2 children, Richard, and Rebecca. At this time, Rob moved away from his career in sales, and would work odd jobs - including running his own contracting business & working as a painter. Unfortunately, Rob would be forced into early retirement due to prolonged back pain.

Rob enjoyed spending time going for walks, carving walking sticks, and catching up on current world news and politics. He was a proficient writer and would contribute articles to the Barrie Advance paper. He was even committing time to working on a book. Rob is remembered by 2 siblings, 5 children, 2 stepchildren & 11 grandchildren.
