Robert Pharand passed away in his home in Toronto on December 25, 2020 at the age of 76.
Born in Hull, Québec on October 20th, 1944 to Ephrem Pharand and Véronique Quinn. Robert is survived by his wife Louise Levac, children Martin (Judi), Michel (Alexandra) and Catherine (James Morton), and was blessed with a wonderful bundle of grand-children – Luke, Emily, Hayden, Elise, and Maxime. He will be missed by his sister Nicole (Robert Loyer); his cousins Jacques (Ghislaine) & André Quinn; his brothers-in-law Neil Levac (Denise) & Mike James; and his nieces & nephews.
Robert was a proud, headstrong man with a legacy of accolades, accomplishments, and a knack for impact. He was an academic and avid reader, with a love of poetry and biographies. He dedicated his life’s work to civil service and was a political advocate of French language rights in his early years. Above all that, he was a constant coach and cheerleader to his family. More than meat and potatoes, he was one of the greatest things since sliced bread (as he often said).
He deserved his seat at the head of our table and we loved him for it.
A celebration of his life will be arranged when it’s safe to do so. Enquiries and condolences can be shared to catherine.pharand@gmail.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be made to your charity of choice in memory of Robert Pharand
