Robert M. Sheppard

Burlington

Robert (Bob) Sheppard passed away Wednesday, January 11th peacefully with his family by his side.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Penny, his sons, Richard, Geoff, and Chris and their amazing wives, Lisa, Heidi, and Doxoulla, (Heather pre-deceased) and stepchildren, Andrew Keeting (Patty) and Scott Keeting (Charlotte). He also leaves behind his dogs Jiggers and Fergus who provided him with unconditional love and joy.
He was loved and adored by his grandchildren, Amber and Kyle, Hayleigh and Grant, Mason, McKenna, Katrina, Thalia, Kate, Emily, Paige, and Alexandra. He was also blessed with great-grandkids, Nate, Grant Jr., Annie, and Drew.
Bob was pre-deceased by his parents John and Nan Sheppard and grew up with them in Simcoe Ontario.  He also shared wonderful relationships with his brothers Doug and Gray, his sisters Eleanor and Jean, and their incredible families.  With great admiration, we want to acknowledge the significant impact of Emilie, Marjorie, and Jan who also helped him raise a loving and caring family.
Bob was an admired teacher for 30 years. Whether it was high school or grade school, he educated and significantly shaped many young lives. He understood and taught the value of our rich history which made him proud to be Canadian.
However, it was Penny who impacted and enriched his days over the last fifteen+ years. Whether it was happy hour together with the dogs or discovering the wonders of world travel, or socializing together with their friends and neighbours, or having a simple piece of cake, Penny made him truly happy.
Although he was a quiet man his interests focused on his family and friends who he supported every day and loved unequivocally.  He always made the time to watch and cheer on, all the kids and grandkids in their adventures, games, shows and activities.
Bob was an avid sportsman/athlete all his life. He enjoyed playing tennis at the club or a golf game with friends and family. He spent hours reading and working on the dynamics of these sports to always improve his game. He also loved to read thriller novels and detective stories and enjoyed going to the movies.
Bob contributed to his community as a dedicated and passionate volunteer. He loved working with seniors, by helping to enrich their lives with unwavering companionship and support. He also volunteered at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for over 25 years.
In the end, Bob was a vibrant, brave, and selfless man whose life was cut short far too early and we are forever grateful to have had him in our lives. He will be missed but not forgotten and forever in our hearts.
The family would appreciate in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations of support to go to the Salvation Army , or the hospital foundations of Joseph Brant , Hamilton General or Oakville Trafalgar General .
The family will be looking to do a celebration of life in the upcoming weeks.
