Robert Vincent Wylde

August 11, 1943 — July 16, 2024

Brampton

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Vincent Wylde, 80, of Brampton, Ontario, Canada on the 16th day of July 2024.

Robert “Bobby” passed away at Mississauga General Hospital at 8:32 a.m. with just enough time for him to make his 8:46 a.m. tee-off time in heaven. Golf was a sport that he loved but was unable to play for some time due to his health.

Robert was born on August 11, 1943, to Eric and Florence Wylde (nee Bessell) in Bristol, England. One of eight children, Robert will be dearly missed by his siblings Philip, Martin and Janet, and will be joining Reg, Eric, Dennis and Shiela in heaven.

In 1965, Robert enlisted in the Royal Armoured Corps, where he served with Prince Albert's own 11th Hussars - C squadron (The Cherrypickers), gaining the rank of Lance Corporal before leaving the service in 1971.

Married to Janet Heggblom (nee Pugsley) in England in 1969, the couple had two beautiful daughters before immigrating to Canada in 1979. Robert was an entrepreneur who worked hard to provide a good life for his family in his new found home, in addition to finding free time to enjoy fishing, golfing, and his local pub.

Robert will always be a loving Father and Gramps who will be dearly missed by his daughters Stephanie and Louise, his son-in-law Richard, and his grandchildren Eric, Emily, and Clarissa.

Robert touched a lot of lives during his time with us, and in the end had one wish for those who got to know him. His wish was for you to remember the good times and celebrate his life by cracking a joke, lifting a pint for a cheers, casting a line in the lake, or sinking a putt on the course.

Bobby, you won’t be forgotten.

Per Robert’s wishes, his ashes will be taken to England for a final pub crawl before being inurned close to his birthplace, where he will be joining the resting place of his siblings who predeceased him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made in honour of Robert to the Canadian Lung Association, supporting research and education to help prevent and advance the treatment of lung disease. Please refer to the Online Donate Form on the Canadian Lung Association website, and thank you to all those who donate in Robert’s honour.

Treu und Fest.
