Robert (Bob) Joseph Addy

Bob passed peacefully in his 93rd year on Thursday August 24th after a short hospitalization.  Born September 5, 1930 to Jack and Martha Addy (predeceased) in Glen Williams, ON. Cherished husband of 66 years to Shirley Wallace Addy.  Father to Kevin (Connie), Janyce, Lynda (Mark), Suzanne (Darrin), Karen (Casey), and Leslie (Shawn).  Beloved grandfather to Trina (Jake), Brock (Kaitlynn), Kirk (predeceased), Coryl, Derek, Evelyn (Liam), Anthony (Val), Lily (Nathan), Ryan, Melissa, Brett, Chas, Addy (Noah), Phoebe, Piper (predeceased), Kyle, Marcus, Ethan and Jack. Survived by his brother Roger (Judy) and family of St. Catharines.

Bob began his professional career as a Civil Engineer with Gore and Storrie (Toronto) after graduating from the University of Toronto in 1953.  He qualified as a Mathematics teacher in 1963 and became a high school teacher, finishing his career at Barrie Central Collegiate in 1992.

Bob loved model trains, all things chocolate, butter tarts, barbershop quartet singing, classical music, and his family.

Bob served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1958 to 2020 with devotion and love for his church community.  A highlight of his Church service was serving an 18 month Church Education mission in Perth, West Australia with his wife Shirley.

After developing macular degeneration in 1998, he became an active member of Club 60, a social and support group for visually impaired adults in Barrie.

Bob will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral service to be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 79 Ferris Lane, Barrie on Friday September 1.  Viewing at 11:30, service to follow at 1pm.
