Robert “Bob” Knowles passed away peacefully in his home of natural causes after a long and fulfilling life. He will be dearly missed by family as well as friends who were as treasured as family. Many friends lovingly referred to him as “Big Bob” due not only to his physical height and strength, but also due to the size of his heart and generosity.
Always known as a gentleman and a professional, Robert succeeded in a career as a young man in the Toronto Stockyards as well as the Stockyards in Alliston. Followed by “un-retiring” to have a second career as a security guard in Toronto for many years, loving that work right up until a few months before his passing at the age of 89 years.
Robert had a passionate love of classical music and was an avid collector of classical recordings. He shared this hobby with his very close circle of friends. Nothing gave him greater joy than to share an evening of fine music and a delicious meal with his friends.
Robert is predeceased by parents George and Bernice Knowles; brother William Knowles, sister Barbara Price (née Knowles), and nephew Russell McKee. He will be lovingly remembered by sister Marjorie McKee (née Knowles); nephews and nieces Ray McKee, Ron McKee, Karen Baker, Kathy McKee, Andrew Price, Nancy McCormick, and a long legacy of great-nephews and great-nieces. Officially called son, brother, and uncle, there are many friends who also considered “Big Bob” an honorary brother, dad, or grandpa.
