It is with utter shock and sadness that I announce the passing of Roger, on September 6 at the Ottawa General Hospital, after a brief illness, in his 69th year.
Roger was the son of the late Phyllis and Stanley Dool. He was a beloved son, husband, father, stepfather, Poppa, brother and true friend. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lynn Sutherland, his sons, Ryan, Jeff and Steve, his stepsons Kelsey Mott (Natasha), Christian Chiappa and his grandchildren Tyce Dool, Allyssa Dool and William & Lachlan Mott, as well as his siblings: Betty Wilson, Garry Dool (Bonnie) and Steve Dool.
As a young man, he was very athletic, playing Goalie in Junior hockey and spending his summers playing competitive baseball. Roger was always involved in his community. Whether as a hockey coach, participating in local sports, or as the drummer in local rock 'n roll band, Leyton Road. He was an all-around gifted musician-he played piano by ear and enjoyed live music at every opportunity.
Roger was an entrepreneur all his life-his start was selling his beloved drum kit and his motorcycle (another of his many interests), to buy out his father and uncle's business, Dool Fuels, with his friend, Greg Henderson.
He leaves behind a heartbroken community of family and friends and we will Celebrate his Life on October 19th 2024 at the Kemptville Curling Club between 2-5 pm. East Coast kitchen party style, play a tune, tell a story, lots of love and laughter.
If you wish to make a charitable donation in Roger’s honour, please consider the Canadian Cancer Society and the SPCA.
