Ron Craig McHattie, 56, of Toronto, passed away from heart failure on June 23, 2017. He was born to the late Jack and Dianne McHattie in Toronto on December 1, 1960. He grew up primarily in Labrador City, NL where he graduated high school in 1978 and went on to attend College in St. John's, NL.
Ron had a very successful career as an IT Project Manager working in various fields but ultimately focusing on the Financial Services sector. Outside of work, he loved to spend time on the water aboard his sailboat. He also had a passion and talent for cooking and particularly enjoyed preparing his specialty Cajun dishes for family and friends. In recent years he took several specialty baking courses at George Brown and each week after class, family and co-workers would clamour to get a taste of his latest assignment.
Always very near to Ron's heart was his family. He loved to spend time with his nephew and nieces and took tremendous pride in all their accomplishments. Ron's superb organizational skills were generously employed as the champion of outstanding family reunions which were fun, heartwarming, and kept a close family even closer.
Ron is survived by sister Andrea and her husband Lawrence, sister Leslie and her husband Ken, nieces Sara, Laura and Kadee, nephew Craig and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 3 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 344, 1395 Lake Shore Blvd W, Toronto, ON. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the CAMH Foundation or the Children's Wish Foundation.
