Ronald James Thompson, 89, of Sunderland, Ontario, passed away after a courageous battle with heart disease.Ron was born in Toronto in the midst of the great depression in 1933. Following the death of his father, at the age of 15, Ron left school to help support the family. He began his long and successful printing career by sweeping floors in the press room as a teenager and continued on through the ranks to become Operations Manager and Director of Sales, just to name a few. Following his retirement he loved driving a school bus in Durham Region. He had many interests and hobbies throughout his life. Some of which were Bird watching, Fishing, Baking, Golfing and Gardening. But it was his charm and sense of humor that won the heart of Norma Evelyn Denman. They were married in 1959 and had three children.Ronald is survived and will be lovingly remembered by Norma, his wife of 64 years, his daughter Sharlene (David), son John Anderson (Darlene), sister Gail & brother-in-law Ted and sister-in-law June Middlestadt. He was predeceased by his daughter Cindy Lou & son-in-law Guy, sister Donna and parents Edna Mae and John Anderson Thompson and Stepfather Harry Hall. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren; Brittany (Drew), Jake, Remy, Julian and Monique (Josh), his great grandson JD (John Declan) as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.Celebration of Ron’s life for immediate family to follow at a later date. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in Ron’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
