Rowena Elaine (George) Parsons

Rowena Elaine Parsons (nee George) of Brooklin, Ontario, passed away suddenly on Saturday April 15, 2023, at Southlake Regional Health Centre at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Eric and loving mother to Donna (Reg), Rennie (Paul), Rhonda (Paul), Connie, and Jim (Julie). Devoted Grandmother of Dawn, Shanna, Ryan, Dustin, Reanna, Wylie, Deni, Jordan, Jake, Riley and Haley. Great Grandmother of Cody, Michael, and Eoin. Rowena will also be missed by her sister Betty, many adoring nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Her passion to help others led her to the healthcare industry where she worked for Lyndhurst Rehabilitation Centre for Spinal Cord Injuries in Toronto, and in her retirement as a Civilian Matron for the RCMP in Newfoundland.

Rowena was born on Bell Island, Newfoundland to loving parents Hayward and Gertrude George. While still in her teens she left her home along with her lifetime friend (and future sister-in-law) Pearl, to follow their future husbands, brothers Eric and Walter to Toronto. Here they began a lifetime of love, happiness and much, much, laughter.

Their love of Newfoundland never left them and upon retirement, Rowena and Eric returned to their roots and spent many happy years in Harbour Grace, enjoying their love of the east coast, family and friends. As it was in their early years in Toronto, then Agincourt and later in Bobcaygeon, their door was always open and their home was always filled with laughter from the many friends and family who visited from near and far.

To the joy of her family, Rowena returned to Toronto in 2014 to share the final chapter of her life with her children who will be forever grateful for this time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on what would have been Rowena’s 90th birthday on Sunday April 30th at Scott Zephyr Hall, 310 Zephyr Rd, Zephyr  from 2:00pm-5:00pm
