Roy Deane Wadsworth, born July 28, 1929, passed away March 4, 2018, with his wife of 65 years by his side. Roy had a long and interesting life that he was more than willing to tell you about ... several times. He was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan in the year of the stock market crash and at a time when the prairies were suffering from the great drought. In reality, the stories never did justice to how hard his early life had been; but he somehow made abandonment at the age of 10; trading work for food; and labouring in the Northwest Ontario bush seem romantic. He married Doreen Robinson of Dyment, ON in 1952 and together they forged a new and better life that included 3 children: Brian (who passed in 2017); Gail (Virden, MB) and Barry (Oshawa, ON). From running a steam boiler in a freezing shed at Canada Cement in 1955 to the Director of Operations at Winnipeg's Misericordia Hospital, from which he retired in 1992, Roy was someone who treated everyone with respect, no matter who they were or where they came from. His stories, laughter and infectious smile will be missed by all, including his remaining family and his grandchildren: Denise, Macal, Mike and Tasha, and great grand-daughter Amonie. The heavens are brighter now and the world a little dimmer.
