Ruth Evelyn Slessor

SLESSOR, Ruth Evelyn (née Moon) – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth Slessor on Sunday, January 24, 2021 in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Slessor. Cherished mother of Wendy Capiato (Dan) and the late Paris Slessor and Judy Bossert. Loving Nana of Lisa Sander (Kelly), Kris Capiato (Ashley), Sandy Capiato (Cara) and Great-Nana of Kyle and Owen Sander and Darius and Madelyn Capiato. Ruth is survived by her sister Norma White-Hicks and daughter-in-law Gayle (Bob) George. Predeceased by her brothers Wilfred Moon (Lavina), (Jessie), Tom Moon (Freda) sisters Dolly Rose (George), Beatrice Caldwell (Gordon), Hazel Ayers (Ernie), Lillian Slessor (Dwight), Mary Hewitt-Berry (Cecil), (Dick), and brothers-in-law Tom White and Bill Hicks. Ruth is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and her former co-workers at the Barrie south end Walmart. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at the IOOF Seniors Home for their exceptional care. Cremation has taken place. Due to the current COVID restrictions, a memorial graveside service will be held in the spring at Barrie Union Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the IOOF Seniors Homes Inc. (Simcoe Lodge) through the JENNETT FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTRE, 152 Bradford Street in Barrie.
