It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Sabryna Rachel Mitchell on Tuesday 19th January 2021 at the age of 24. She passed away at Toronto Western Hospital after a hard fought 8-month long battle following complications from a stroke. She was the beloved fiancée of Samantha, precious daughter of Dale and Eileen and dearest sister to Lynda, Melyssa (Brandon) and Nathanael (Brittany). She is also lovingly remembered by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her many dear friends made throughout her life. Sabryna also leaves behind her cherished fur babies Benji and Bambi who will miss their mama so much.
Sabryna grew up in Barrie, Ontario developing a passion for hockey at a young age and a love of animals growing up, especially her horse Gracie and dog Kady. Throughout her childhood, Sabryna loved spending summers at the cottage and enjoyed many Christmases and summer BBQ’s spent with her extended family. After deciding to become a Registered Nurse, Sabryna moved to Toronto where during her studies, she quickly realized her passion for working with babies and later successfully landed her dream job as a Neonatal ICU nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital. It is with her first primary baby Charlie that she truly knew she had found her calling and could not have been more devoted to her wellbeing and care whilst finding true lifelong friends in her parents along the way. She was fully committed to her job but was always looking to challenge herself and learn as much as possible. She dreamed of potentially travel nursing in the USA and eventually furthering her career by studying to become a Nurse Practitioner or a Nursing Professor.
While her career was very important to her, Sabryna always had dreams of travelling around the world and going on adventures near and far which became one of her and Sam’s favourite things to do together. Most recently she visited Hawaii, the number one place she dreamed of vacationing, where her and Sam got engaged and planned to be married. Shortly thereafter they were planning to start a family, where Sabryna would finally have the chance to have babies to love of her own. Other than travelling, some of her favourite things to do included: snuggling up on the sofa, eating yummy food, watching tv with her fiancée and puppies, having family get togethers with everyone as much as possible and enjoying many great nights out drinking cocktails with her friends.
She also loved sipping tea on her balcony watching the amazing view from her condo in downtown Toronto, cheering on her favourite hockey teams from the stands, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers and trying as many restaurants in the city as possible that included her favourites of pasta or sushi. Before her passing, she was so excited to be a maid of honour alongside her eldest sister Lynda at Melyssa’s wedding to the love of her life Brandon; seeing her not so little baby brother Nathanael land his dream job that he had worked so hard for and looking forward to seeing her dad Dale finally enjoying his well-deserved retirement where he could spend more time with her mum Eileen and the rest of the family.
Sabryna was a beautiful person, inside and out with an infectious smile that lit up a room. She was incredibly intelligent, selfless, caring, and kind-hearted while also being fiercely determined and working tirelessly for what she wanted in life. Even though Sabryna’s time on earth was cut far too short, the memories shared together will live on forever and the world was a more beautiful place with her being a part of it. We know she is smiling down on us from heaven and is with us in spirit always, until we are reunited with that beautiful smile once again.
A virtual visitation will be held on Saturday 6th February from 1-4pm and you can access it by following the link below:

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will hopefully be planned for Sabryna’s birthday in July, during her favourite season, with all her closest friends and family. Details will be shared when Covid allows.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Sabryna’s memory to either of the foundations listed at the bottom of the page. One raising money to provide vital equipment for the NICU at Mount Sinai Hospital and the other supporting premature babies and their families, a cause close to Sabryna’s heart.
We also encourage you all to please share any fond memories that you had with Sabryna during her life and post any pictures or videos that you would love to share on the tribute wall.
