God called Salvador Rivas peacefully on January 29, 2024, at the age of 96. He will be forever missed by his wife of 72 years, Vilma Rivas and his two daughters Beatrice Harris (Al Harris), and Lucila Rivas. There is nothing Salvador loved more than his family and he will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Carlos Romero (Natalie Romero), Jennifer Monroy (Francisco Monroy), Kyle Whitney and Melissa Hunt (Ryan Hunt), as well as his great grandchildren Tyson, Janelle, Gabriela, Adrian, Mia, Jackson and Levi.
Salvador will always be remembered for his kind eyes, his heartfelt hugs, and the way he emanated warmth. Born in El Salvador, he grew up in a family of 12. He immigrated to Canada where he built a beautiful life for his family. Always surrounded by books, he had a deep love for reading and poetry. He took such joy in being surrounded by his family, often surprising the little ones with candies. Salvador’s love was infectious and touched so many people. He will be held dear in the hearts of his family, relatives and many friends spread around the world.
Tuve grandes maestros. Llegué a estar orgulloso de mis progresos. Cuando recuerdo que fui sabio, me comparo a ese líquido que llena el vaso y toma su forma, y a ese humo que el viento desvanece. - Omar Khayyam
