Passed away at Ottawa May Court Hospice on Friday, June 1, 2023 at 6 p.m. surrounded by close family. The cause of death is due to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), where the muscles in the body gradually shut down over time.
Sandra (Grandminou) leaves behind her four children Richard (partner; Raymonde), Joanne, Debbie (partner; Wayne), Micheline (partner; Lionel), five grandchildren Melissa (partner; Alexis), Mikaela (partner; Liam), Stéphanie (partner; Jérémy), Jay, Nikolas (partner; Daphnée), and three great-grandchildren Alicia, Mathys & Axel. She is now dancing in heaven with her sister Liz Ellis and husband Rheal Cléroux.
Sandra loved spending time with her family. She always made sure to have a special relationship with each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She adored spending time at the trailer with the grandkids, gardening, and hanging up her beautiful red geraniums in the spring. She was always laughing and was quite the social butterfly. Everyone that got to know her simply fell in love with her charm.
We would like to thank everyone who helped take care of her in her time of need; family members, doctors, nurses and other hospital staff as well as the May Court Hospice for being so kind during her last moments.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 17th from 1-4 p.m. at Richard’s home for family members and close friends. The internment will be taking place sometime in September with close family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maycourt Hospice, or the ALS society of Canada are greatly appreciated. These donations help with ALS research in order to discover more about the disease and to hopefully find a cure.
