June 19, 1947 - December 1, 2017
Sandy’s working life was centered on working with and for others, with the YMCA, the CNIB, and elsewhere in the Greater Toronto Area and in Kingston, Ontario. She was a talented artist and saw the beauty in everything around her. She inspired those around her to see it too.
Sandy was diagnosed with cancer in the winter of 2017 and after a hiatus from treatment, developed complications as a result of her disease. She passed away peacefully, holding hands with those she loved, December 1, 2017 at Toronto Grace.
Sandy will be deeply missed and is survived by her daughter Darlee (Matthew), husband Gord, brothers Jim (Sharon-Ann) and Chris (Mary), cousins, nieces, and nephews, and friends made wherever she went. She is predeceased by her parents Clara and Frank, and her brother Duncan.
All will remember her sense of humour, perspective, hope, and love.
The family wishes to thank those who cared for her throughout her life and during her illness.
A graveside service will be held December 8, 2017 at 2:00pm at St. Philip’s Church at 31 St Phillips Rd, in Etobicoke.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, the Children’s Aid and Catholic Children’s Aid Societies, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Salvation Army, or the charity of your choice, are appreciated.
