Sandra Violet Mitchell

MITCHELL, Sandra Violet - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Sandra Violet Mitchell. Sandra passed away at the age of 78 on the 3rd of May 2017 at the IOOF Home in Barrie, Ontario after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Sandra was born on February 16, 1939  in Toronto, Ontario, to James William Cheadle and Ina Patricia Cheadle (Oldfield). She grew up with a younger brother James named after their father, who unfortunately passed away in a car accident when both were only teenagers. Sandra, when older began to travel the world, spending most of her time in England and then South Africa with a girl friend, Denise Welsh, who is still her closest friend. The passing of her mother in 1963 brought her back to Canada, and that same year she met our father Darryl Mitchell. Sandra was an Executive Secretary at the Mitchell Partnership for many years and also the Racing Secretary for the Quarter Horse Association where she spent a large part of her time owning and racing Quarter horses. Sandra resided in Scarborough, Ontario until 1984, then moved to Mount Albert, Ontario with her family, to be closer to her passion of horses. Sandra is survived by her three children, Derek Mitchell, Karen Kennedy and Krista Mcfarlane and her five grandchildren, Aleisha Wagner, Katelyn and Hailey Kennedy and Kaeden and Koen Mcfarlane. She will be sincerely missed. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Monday May 15th between 12-4 at the South Shore Community Centre, 205 Lakeshore Dr. Barrie, Ontario. Donations to The Alzheimer Society may be made though the Jennett Funeral & Cremation Centre, 152 Bradford Street, Barrie Ontario.
