With great sadness we announce the passing of Sandra Dale Vedlin, born on September 5, 1941 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Dale passed away on October 17, 2024 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Beloved wife of Anthony (Tony) for 58 years. Loving Mother of Anita (Brendan), Natalie (Glenn), Richard (Lada), and Justin (Joanne). Cherished Grandmother of Adam, Dalton, Delaney, Evan, Maia, Adrian, Alexander, and Ryan. She was predeceased by her son Brian, her parents Elias and Edith Lawrence, and her sisters Yvonne (Houston, Texas) and Cynthia (Sydney, Australia). Survived by her brothers and sisters, Valerie (New Brunswick), Howard (Diane) (Glace Bay), David (Denise) (Halifax), Rhonda Lynn (Jimmy) (Dartmouth), Miriam (Peter) (Burnaby, B.C.), and Michael (Tracey) (Glace Bay).
Dale moved from Glace Bay to Halifax to work at Dalhousie University's School of Dentistry and met Tony shortly thereafter. Following Tony's transfer to London, ON, Dale and Tony reconnected and she continued working in dentistry for some time. Devoted to her family, Dale was delighted to stay at home to raise her children. Dale had a beautiful singing voice and she loved theatre, music, and travel, especially cruising. It brought her tremendous joy to spend time with all of her grandchildren who were the loves of her life and she was proud of all of their accomplishments.
As per Dale's wishes, there will not be any visitation. Following cremation, a funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2300 Burnhamthorpe Road West, Mississauga, ON on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Assumption Cemetery, 6933 Tomken Road in Mississauga, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dale’s name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and would be appreciated by the family.
