It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Gillette announce her passing on February 13, 2021.
Shirley was born on February 8,1954 in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador to Della and Lewis Gillette. Her passion for her work in Foreign Affairs and her adventurous spirit granted her the opportunity to travel the world. She made many wonderful friends and memories along the way. She was heavily involved in her local Union, and continued to cultivate strong connections in her community long after retirement.
Shirley's energetic and friendly nature made her a beloved member of the Vanier Legion OF Club and the Capital City Walkers. She was a strong, intelligent, and independent force who worked hard for all that she had. Ultimately her most joyous and rewarding endeavour was motherhood, nurturing and raising her son Lewis.
Being gifted with a green thumb, she was an avid gardener who enjoyed helping things grow and flourish. She was a creative and inspired cook, who took joy in passing down her knowledge to her son whenever the opportunity arose. An IT professional during her career, she also had a passion for all things tech-oriented. Always looking for the best, most interesting new developments in the industry and never settling for anything sub-par.
Shirley will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She will live on in the hearts, minds, and memory of her son Lewis and his father Bill, mother Della, sister Jean, brother Roy, and by all her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Taken far too soon, always cherished, and never forgotten.
