Shirley Janet Holbeck, age 82, died peacefully at the Peter D. Clark Long Term Care Home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was predeceased by her parents James and Daisy Holbeck and her sisters Carol Noland and Mary Margaret Colasanti. She is survived by her brother John Holbeck and her three children Cindy Hudson (Terry), Wendy Vaillancourt (Dan) and Terri Beattie as well as 8 Grandchildren, Jesse, Bailey (Ryan), Kayti, Phillip, Shaun, Andrew, Julie, Jordan and 1 Great Grandchild, Caden and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was born in Kingsville Ontario but as a young adult moved to Ottawa Ontario where she spent most of the rest of her life.
Shirley was a strong and very active women. She loved working with people and throughout her life she was involved in serving the community through volunteer work and sports. She enjoyed playing softball and did so even in her 60th year. She took part in several bowling leagues and learned to downhill ski in her later years. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion where she bartended and participated in dart and pool leagues.
Shirley had many interests such as knitting, crocheting, puzzles, reading and drawing. She loved to dance and continued to do so at the events held at Peter D. Clark.
Family members would like to thank Peter D. Clark for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Shirley. They accommodated her in every stage of her stay with them. We were very fortunate to have had this as her final home. So many people expressed their love in her final days.
