It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Stamatina Tzerelas on February 22, 2025 in East York at the age of 83. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Stavros and Litsa. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children Georgia (Frank) and Becky (John); grandchildren Akis (Anastasia), Sal (Sabrina), Michael, and John (Mary); and her sister Yiota. Her greatest joy in her final years was becoming a proud great-grandmother to Daphne and Francesco.
Stamatina was born in Doliana, Greece to Georgios and Vasiliki Karamantzanis. After a joyful childhood and after graduating high school, she made the brave decision to leave her home, at 22 years old, for a better life in Canada. Once there, she met Spyros Tzerelas and together, they had their two loving daughters, who became her entire world.
Stamatina built a beautiful life in her new home, but always told the most wonderful stories of her life in Greece. She was never seen without a lovely coat or a stylish purse and was often spotted on her frequent walks to McDonald’s to enjoy a coffee with her many friends.
Stamatina will always be remembered for her heart of gold, devotion to her family and kindness to others.
