Stella Digalakis

March 29, 2025 – Toronto, OntarioIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stella Digalakis, at the age of 92, on March 29, 2025, in Toronto. Stella was a beloved mother, and friend, whose legacy of love, hard work, and creativity lives on in all who knew her.

Stella was born in Greece and emigrated to Canada in 1961 with her husband, Emmanouel, and their young daughter, Thelma. Together, they built a life in a new country, working tirelessly to provide for their family. Through their dedication, they bought a home, put their daughter through school, and set down roots in Mississauga. Their story was one of determination and devotion to family and community.

As a talented seamstress, Stella had a remarkable ability to create beautiful things with her hands. Embroidery was her special love, and she made some magnificent museum-quality pieces. Her creativity and craftsmanship were evident in everything she made. She was also a gifted cook, known for her generosity in preparing delicious meals and hosting countless gatherings at her home. Stella’s warm hospitality and zest for life made her a cherished friend to many, and her home was always a place of laughter, good food, and great conversation.

She continued to find joy in the simple pleasures of life, as Stella and Emmanuel spent their retirement between Canada and Greece, where she enjoyed time with loved ones and stayed connected to her roots.

After the passing of her beloved husband Emmanuel ten years ago, Stella faced the challenges of widowhood with unshakeable faith, courage, and grace. Stella's enduring spirit and legacy will live on through all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her boundless creativity, and her ability to make everyone feel at home.
