Stephanie Wylie
June 30, 1923 – June 17, 2021
Passed away peacefully in her 98th year at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario.
Stephanie was born in Sydney, NS to Katherine Huk and John Stetch, predeceased by her siblings William, Anne, Mary, Jean, Tony and Olga.
Married to Roy Wylie in 1946, a loving and devoted mother to Stephanie, Elizabeth (John), Catherine Blair (Len), Roy (Melanie), Philip and Steve Walker (Terri), nana to Tanya, Sam, Alex, Meghan, Michael, Jesse, Henry, Bradley, Gwyneth, Kristen and 2 great grandchildren, Owen and Violet…forever in their hearts.
A proud Canadian, strong and independent, Stephanie was determined to return to high school, and graduated at 53 from Delta CI alongside her son Philip. Among her favourite travel destinations were Hawaii where she vacationed often with her sister Anne, and Vancouver Island where she visited her son Roy. An expert ballroom dancer, she enjoyed old love songs, dancing the hula, learning to play the piano in her 70s, and battling all who dared at Scrabble. She remained healthy and fit throughout the years, even using a personal trainer to stay strong for the last few years until Alzheimer’s restricted her life. Stephanie will be fondly remembered for her holubtsi, perogies and pie making.
A special thank you to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for taking such good care of our mom. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada at https://www.alzhn.ca
