Steven Thompson

Steve passed peacefully on October 2nd, 2022 at the Ottawa General Hospital. He was born in 1952  to Beatrice and Raymond Thompson and shared many good times in Burritt’s Rapids with friends and family in his formative years. He married and had three kids with his former wife Rose. In addition to following his passion for hunting, trapping, and dog training, he worked as a labourer and retired in 2017. Over his life, Steve called many places home but his property in Toledo always held a special place in his heart - where he could live life as an avid outdoorsman in the peace of the country. He was a hard worker, knew how to have fun, and never backed away from a challenge.

Steve was a proud dad who taught his kids many things in life. He was excited to share his children’s accomplishments and he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. His children Jennie May (Kevin), Rita (Julio), and Andrew, and grandchildren Noah, Calvin, Cadence, Lilianna, Alaina, and Elias will carry him in their hearts and memories.

Steve was a beloved son and brother who was predeceased by his mother and father (Beatrice and Raymond), his brothers David and Raymond, and his sister-in-law Ellen. He will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters Andrew, Patricia (John), Bonnie (Philip), Richard (Barbara), Cathy (David), Mary Lou (Eldon), John (Shirley), sisters-in-law Betty Ann and Lynn, and many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered with love by Laura.

On October 15th, please join Steve’s family to share memories at his celebration of life from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m at the Toledo Legion (320 County Road 8). Private interment will take place separately.
