Sumathy Mathur. A name which evokes kindness, laughter and a beautiful smile for everyone. Beloved wife to Santosh, mother to Jay (Joanne) and Anita (Dmitry), step-mother to Neil (Meg), grandmother to Jenna and Lola, step-grandmother to Jay and Thomas, sister to Sympathy, Soumini, Shobana, Jaison and Vinaya. All who have deeply loved her and will miss her dearly.
Sumathy passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 16th, 2023 at the age of 87. She was born on December 1st, 1935 in the town of Ernakulum and bravely moved to Toronto alone in 1966 to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, the perfect profession for someone with so much kindness and care to give.
She leaves behind many friends from fellow Malayalees within her community, her colleagues at Mississauga Hospital and the people she met around the world during her travels with loving and equally adventurous husband, Santosh.
Sumathy will always be remembered for her love of nature (effusive about flowers and animals alike), her cooking (she really was the best) and especially her devotion to her family. She was strong, compassionate and always willing to share a smile. This is how she will always be remembered.
