Susan Elizabeth March (Susie), the beloved daughter of Audrey and Harry, left this world unexpectedly on September 21, 2024, at the age of 51. Susie had a stroke and suffered from massive hemorrhaging following the operation to remove the blood clot in her brain. She died at the Civic hospital in Ottawa.
Susie was a gentle and sensitive soul. She struggled with health issues all her adult life, having been diagnosed with Lupus at the age of 16. She suffered from occasional bouts of depression that were mainly brought on by her health issues affecting the quality of her life. In spite of that, she was strongly passionate about things that mattered to her or brought her happiness.
Someone said that the very first time they met her, they got the sense that she was a lovely soul, and that first impression was re-affirmed in each subsequent meeting with her. The world is a less caring place without her.
Susie was frank and honest. She was unpretentious and lived a simple life. Her first big passion in life came in the form of ballet. She excelled in dance and was part of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada. She was in many public performances, including Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
Susie also loved crafts, many genres of music (specially dance and R&B/Soul), and had great taste in decorating. She always looked forward to the various holidays, when she would decorate the house and the outdoors with various items of whimsy and fancy that she had either found on her shopping hunts to the used stores and church sales, or items that she would craft and put together herself. Susie also liked to go on shopping trips to the US, either with her sister or with her friend, Andrea, and she loved a good bargain.
Susie had a sweet tooth (specially, chocolate) and loved to bake. She was a really good baker though she often did not give herself enough credit.
Susie is survived by Cathy (sister), Alex (brother), Tamara (cousin), Brad (brother-in-law), Kinga (sister-in-law), nephews (David, Adam, Buzzy, Ryan), Scooter (her dog, whom she loved as her own child), and her partner/husband, Behzad. Susie met her partner, Behzad (Bez), in January of 2013, at a singles dance event. They remained lovingly devoted to each other to the end of her life.
Susie was an excellent mother to her fur babies, first Clara (her rescue adopted cat, which passed away in 2022) and then, Scooter, her beloved dog.
Those who knew Susie to any degree knew how truly passionate she was about the welfare of animals. She saved many hurt animals (birds, groundhogs, turtles, etc) that she came across. There was no way that she would not stop her car to pick up an injured animal and take her to a care center, no matter how far or how late.

Those who wish to make a donation in Susie's memory could consider any of the following. The cause of helping animals was very close to her heart.
