Susanne Buzzell
(née Kastler)
It is with immense sadness that we announce the unexpected death of our mother Susanne on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the age of 90. Predeceased by her loving husband Bruce last August, she leaves to morn, her adoring sons Sven (Eva) and Michael (Tony), of whom she was immensely proud.
Born March 27, 1931, in Plön, Germany, Susanne was the eldest sister to Inge (predeceased), Gerd (predeceased) and Klaus. Sister-in-law to Winnie, Rodney, Barbara, Lynford, June, Marguerite (predeceased), Austin (predeceased) and Winston (predeceased).
The war years were tough, and from a very early age, she worked to support her mother and siblings. Her nurturing and caring nature led her to working at the Windsor Girls Boarding School in Plön. When the school relocated to Soest, it was there that she met Bruce who was stationed in Germany with the Canadian military. Married in Soest, she embraced military life, and moved to Canada. A stay at home mom for many years, when she did re-enter the work force, she always worked surrounded by children. She retired from the Limestone District School Board in Kingston.
Susanne was passionate about the arts, she loved music, the opera, dancing and history, She would share her knowledge freely, and recount stories of her youth. Always well dressed, she was a true lady who cared for everyone that crossed her path. She gave freely to whom she thought needed her help. Generous to a fault, she never wanted anyone to suffer as she had as a child, and if she could make a difference she would. The world lost a kind soul, she loved her family and many friends and will be forever remembered. She was well taken care of these past few years, and we thank everyone who made her life better in Kingston and most recently in Ottawa.
A private service will take place in the spring.
