Suzan Hsiao Tzu Lien Cheung

April 10, 1953 — January 26, 2025

Suzan “Little Purple” Cheung passed away peacefully with family members by her side at the Yee Hong Peter K. Kwok Hospice in Scarborough, Ontario. She was an unstoppable force, a beloved and proud mother, wife, sister, auntie, colleague and a dear and cherished friend to so many.

Suzan was an adventurer, always active, curious and seeking to learn new things about the world around her. Her natural curiosity and incredible work ethic allowed her to grow her career and life in Canada. Early on, Suzan was a travel agent in Taiwan and then a teacher in Hong Kong. After immigrating to Canada she worked as a bookstore clerk and then an accounting clerk, and eventually became an accounting manager who led her own team at Teck Resources Limited where she proudly served for decades before her retirement. Throughout her life she was a life-long learner, working overtime, going to college to earn certifications, and after retirement attending up to 3 courses a week in fitness or arts, just for fun. Her friends and family will know that retirement finally allowed her the time and freedom to enjoy her loves of exercise and creativity: walking, cycling, wandering, gardening, painting and crafting. Suzan was not a woman of many words, even though she was fluent in Taiwanese, Mandarin, Cantonese and English; so, we are ever grateful that the abundance of photos she took of her many adventures are a visual journal and testament of her life well-lived.

Suzan is survived by her husband Roland; her daughter and spouse Annie and Rick; her sister Reiko; her brother and spouse Engzer and Chichun; her sister and spouse Meiji and Kinya; her brother-in-law and spouse Simon and Addie; and, her sister-in-law and spouse Kathrine and Floyd.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, kindly consider making a donation in memory of Hsiao Tzu Lien Cheung to Yee Hong Peter K. Kwok Hospice, or Sunnybrook Hospital Odette Cancer Program.
