It is with profound sadness that the family of Terrilynne Takacs announce her peaceful passing at the age of 63 years surrounded by her family on December 28, 2023. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of 42 years, William, whom she met in high school in Waterford, ON; loving mother to her daughter, Trista (Ross); cherished Nana to her grandchildren: Vincent and Zara; her brother, Ricci (Eunhee) O'Reilly; her sister, Robynne (Garrett) Forrest; her sister-in-law, Patricia (Larry) Korczak; and her brother-in-law, John Takacs. Terri will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives. Predeceased by her parents, Gene and Viola (Paton) O'Reilly, and her in-laws, William and Elizabeth (Kovacs) Takacs, but now reunited alongside other loved ones.
Terri worked as an Early Childhood Educator for 10 years before becoming a Developmental Support Worker working with adults with developmental disabilities for over 15 years. Terri enjoyed photography, cooking, swimming, gardening, painting, fishing, planning events, and animals. She also loved music, singing, and played the drums in a band for over 15 years.
She was a social butterfly in big cities, small towns, and overseas. She put family first above and beyond her own needs. She offered support, guidance, and the best hugs. She was always only ever a phone call away if someone needed her.
A lifetime of memories but some of the fondest include:
— the day of marriage and the 30 year vow renewal to her husband.
— driving 14 hours to be at the hospital for the birth of her grandchildren.
— decorating her daughter and son-in-law's house for the arrival of each grandchild coming home from the hospital.
— attending every school graduation, sporting event, or life milestone of her daughter.
— baking, nature walks, singing, painting, and crafting with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
— countless party planning for engagements, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or "just because" events for family and friends.
— watching the evening tide come into the cove in New Brunswick while sitting on the deck enjoying a cup of tea.
— driving around the countryside and discovering local treasures along the way.
— Sunday morning breakfast at any local restaurant with her husband.
— attending various rock music concerts and incidentally meeting rock idols like Alannah Myles that sat next to her.
— watching the NHL hockey games between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins.
— watching movies, having evening campfires, and family game nights playing board games, DONKEY, and Uno.
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear." - Unknown
