Thea De Muinck

March 22, 1938 — March 25, 2022

Oakville

Born and raised in the old Amsterdam neighbourhood “De Pijp”, The Netherlands, she survived the atrocities of the infamous Hunger Winter of 1944-45. After her marriage she devoted her time to set up and maintain a happy and protective home for her family in diverse and exotic countries like the Emirate of Qatar, the Sultanates of Brunei and Oman, Switzerland and The Netherlands. Apart from being a caring and loving mother to her three children , she kept an open door for every stray animal that cared to venture her way. In her later years she cared for her grandchildren wherever and whenever there was a need for it. Thea de Muinck, wife and soulmate to John Appel for over sixty years passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25th. 2022 in the presence of her husband and daughter and son in law, days after her 60th Wedding Anniversary and her 84th birthday.

She is survived by her husband John, her children Bastiaan Johan (Claudia), Nienke (Sabeh) and Erich, as well as her beloved grandchildren Tom-John, Lisa, Alexander, Matthew, Daniel Johannes and Avigail.

Cremation will take place in private and a Celebration of Life is planned for a later date when all children and grandchildren can safely get together in Canada.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Celiac Association is greatly appreciated in grateful and loving memory of Thea
