Theresa Melnyk

December 11, 1927 — May 1, 2019

Theresa Melnyk (Nee Mancini), age 91, passed away peacefully May 1st, 2019. She was born December 11th, 1927 to Anthony & Margaret Mancini in North Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Theresa enjoyed the simple things in life and found peace and solice with those she loved. As an example, conversations on the phone with her daughter, Frances, and her sister, Lorraine, brought her happiness. She loved them both dearly. She could always count on enjoying hugs, fun and silliness with her son John Cipak whom she adored. Her daughter-in-law, Barbara would say her kindness always shone through and she was generous with her hugs and saying ‘I love you’ to her family.
Theresa and the kitchen went hand in hand. She loved to cook. In her younger years you could count on delicious meals and a very full belly. Her home was a warm and inviting place to visit.
Theresa’s nature is best described in the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
Theresa is survived by her daughter Frances Pottie, her son John Cipak, her daughter-in-law Barbara, her sister Lorraine Goddard and her loving brother-in-law Norm Edmonson. Theresa’s heart was always open for her grandchildren, Tammy Pottie, Robyn Bertucci, Christopher Cipak, Jason Cipak, Justin Cipak, Jared Cipak, Joshua Cipak and Jesse Cipak. She was proud of her status of grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Her love extended all her family and especially to her nieces Pam and Laurie, and her nephew Anthony
When we hold onto the vision of Theresa’s travels through the veil, we see her smiling with pure excitement as she greets her predeceased beloved brother Gordon Mancini and his loving wife Dorothy. There’s no question they’re all gathered together with Theresa and Gordon’s dad Anthony and their mom Margaret.
Theresa’s final years were spent under the care of the staff at Wellington Park Care Center in Burlington, Ontario. We know Theresa would want to give them a special mention and thank them.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery and Crematorium (737 Dundas St E, Mississauga, ON L4Y 2B5) on Friday May 10, 2019 from 11:15am-2pm. There will be an informal service held during this time.
Theresa loved all her pets dearly, and would appreciate any donations you want to give in her name to go to an Animal Shelter of your choosing.
We will miss you, Love from all of us.
