CULYER, Thomas Arthur - Remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Gaffy and Brother, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Arthur Culyer. Tom passed away peacefully on December 18, 2021 after sharing his final good-byes and expressions of love with his family. Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia Culyer (nee Naylor), his sons and families: Peter and Maria (Miles and Samara), George and Lolita (Jennifer and Megan), and Simon (Eliette), his sister June Harrison. Tom joins his predeceased son Michael, who passed away in 2003. Tom was born to Thomas and Georgina Culyer on June 21, 1938, Cullercoats, England where he would grow up dreaming of becoming a jockey. A growth spurt at a later age would foil those plans and Tom apprenticed in carpentry before transitioning into the emerging field of acoustical systems. This emerging technology would open the opportunity for Tom, Sylvia and their first-born Michael to immigrate to Canada in 1966. Tom would stay connected to this industry his entire career where he was both respected and well liked. Tom instilled a strong sense of duty, devotion, and humility within his family. A true Geordie, it should also be said that we’ve inherited his gift for understatement that will be defied here, as we cannot overstate how much he will be missed. Sylvia especially wanted to share that Tom was the love of Her life and She the love of Tom’s life. Their 58 years of marriage were filled with love, joy and happiness and even through the loss of their son Mike, they were always there for each other. In view of the current COVID related complications, Tom’s family has deferred a memorial service to a later date, yet to be determined.
