On Saturday, July 27th, 2013, at the age of 80, Tom passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family.
He was born in Glasgow, Scotland to the late Margaret and William McGibbon, the eldest of four children. He started his career as a mechanic in the Royal Air Force and went on to work for Jaguar before immigrating to Canada in 1961. He married Marlene McGibbon (nee Russell) in 1970, living and working in many cities across Canada before relocating to Alliston, ON in 2012.
Tom is survived by his wife Marlene and his two children, Fiona and Douglas. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends both in Canada and back in Scotland, and by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A viewing will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 31st at the St. John’s Dixie Cemetery and Crematorium Chapel, followed by a service at 4 p.m. and reception from 5 to 8 p.m.
