Thomas Pang passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
Tom was born in Shanghai and grew up in Hong Kong. Tom was a proud LaSalle College Old Boy and spoke fondly of his memories of the school. Tom eventually followed his parents and siblings to Canada and settled in Toronto.
Tom was fiercely proud of both his Chinese heritage and his adopted country, Canada. He was passionate about Canadian politics and made many lifelong friends through his activities.
Tom was a gifted communicator and tireless learner. He spoke English and many Chinese dialects with perfect fluency, and even in his last days was diligently teaching himself Korean and French. His gift for both languages and communication served him well in his numerous roles in community organizations.
He is survived by his two daughters, Karen and Alison. He will be missed by his four grandchildren, Elijah, John, Micah, and Margaret. He is leaving behind an extensive extended family, including his siblings Ruth, Ching, Lydia, John and Carol.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at 9:30am at Toronto Community Alliance Church (77 First Ave, Toronto). A funeral service will follow at 10:30am.
If desired, donations can be made to the Toronto Public Library Foundation or Toronto Community Alliance Church.
